New Years and resolutions seem to go hand in hand. Are people resolute in these resolutions? Probably not as much as they should be. What a new year can mean is a fresh start, a new calendar: A new beginning.
After just a few weeks though most of us mortal souls have settled in to the all consuming rat race after promising ourselves this year will be different.
What do your 2019 travel plans look like?
This year, Escape Valve is beginning to leave the comforts of Hobart and get out a lot more. Bold new plans are in place. I’m pumped!
Tasmania is a paradise for outdoor explorations and adventures. You probably know about the bushwalking within the vast Tasmanian wilderness, but there is so much more.
I am going to road test some of the best on offer. Headlining the first half of the year is the Overland Track in April. Often touted as the premier bushwalking experience in Tasmania, I am very excited to finally be committing to walk this track. I feel like I am not a true Tasmanian having not walked the iconic track.
I have been busy sorting out a range of activities that I’ve previously put in the too hard basket. I’ve booked in a stand up paddle boarding course beginning in February and I’ll be getting in a kayak for the first time in 10 plus years too. I have to get back on the bike too, but I fear that I have forgotten how to ride the thing.
First though, Muggins here has to get a whole bunch fitter and healthier to get the most out of this year. To combat this, I have written down my dreams for 2019. I have set out the building blocks of those dreams and most have specific dates for each goal. Having already forked out the cashola to lock these in place, so as a result I am at the very least, financially committed. Add to the fact that I have involved other people in my quests, I have the extra responsibility of not letting the team down.
Do your plans require you to take action? To get up off ya bum and get organised? Get started! The months will fly by.
A dream written down with a date becomes a goal. A goal broken down in to steps becomes a plan. A plan backed by action makes your dreams come true.
It is time to put the proverbial foot in front of the other and get on with it. Don’t bloody quit Andrew. Don’t bloody quit. There is no time to quit. It’s less than ninety days until the Overland Track walk commences. Count down timer is on.
Don’t miss this chance at your new beginning.
